February at Senpai & Co: Shoujo, Romance, and Found Family

Welcome to February at Senpai & Co.

This month's theme is Shoujo, Romance, and Found Family--because love stories don't come in just one shape.


Our love isn't only about couples and boxes of chocolate. It's about chosen family, quiet bonds, messy feelings, soft moments, and stories that make you feel seen in ways you didn't expect. If you're looking for something comforting, emotionally rich, or quietly life-altering, this is your month.


End of Year + January Recap!

First, we here at Senpai & Co want to give a huge "thank you" to our community for making our first few months open such a huge success! We first opened our online store in September, and spent October really pushing social media to gain some footing. We spent Halloween Weekend at Kumoricon, which is where many of you found out about us.

We opened the doors to our shop in November... less than a week after we got the keys from the landlord. Yeah, for real. We had already announced our opening date, but we got access to the building super late, so we grinded day and night to put it together. The shop was super dinky when we first opened, but we've been growing into our space and filling shelf after shelf with books, figures, and collectibles.

We have LOTS of projects and promos in the works to reveal throughout this year.


January Bring-a-Friend Raffle

During January, we held a raffle for $50 of store credit, available in-store only. The only condition was that you needed to physically bring another person with you when visiting our brick-and-mortar store in Hazel Dell, Vancouver, WA. We saw people bringing in their partners, their friends, their children and parents, and even their coworkers . . . We may have even seen some date nights.

We're truly so happy over the turnout from the raffle. We had seventy entries from fifty-three unique participants, and met so many new people. Some new faces from January quickly became familiar faces going into February, which is exactly what we were hoping for.

We asked our community on Instagram if we should make the Bring-a-Friend Raffle a January tradition, and the votes were unanimous.

Everyone agrees: We're doing this again for January 2027!


February Double-Punch Deal

Feel the love!

All month long, earn double-punches on purchases of:

  • Shoujo and Josei

  • Romance (including BL/GL, of course)

  • Found family-themed manga

Whether you're building a comfort shelf or discovering something new, your loyalty card gets a little extra love.


Blind Date with a Book

Our Blind Date with a Book is officially live and currently set up beneath the LGBTQ Titles shelf.

Each book is wrapped and waiting... no title, no cover, just a carefully worded description.

Blind Date with a Book is perfect for you if...

  • You want to try something new

  • You trust our taste a little too much

  • Decision fatigue has fully set in

Some of our favorite conversations start at that table!


February Drops

February is loaded with new releases... from familiar favorites like Frieren and Hunter x Hunter to pop culture explosions like Jujutsu Kaisen and Dandadan, we're keeping a keen eye on all your favorite series.

Here are the ones we're stocking this month:

We chose to stock these titles based on what our community has shown the greatest enthusiasm for, but there are many other titles being released that we're truly on the fence about.

Unless we're told by any of you that you want these series, these will not yet be stocked:

  • Fake Alchemist, volume 1 (2/24)

  • Kitayama and Minamiya, volume 1 (2/24)

  • Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Madness, volume 1 (2/24)

  • Galaxias volume 1 (2/24)

If you were interested in these titles, or any upcoming titles we don't have listed here, you're still in luck . . .


Title Requesting

New releases are always exciting, but if there’s a specific volume you’re waiting on, don’t forget:

Our Title Request Form is always open. Ask us to find Volume X of Series Y---no service fee, just the cost of the book if we track it down.

It’s an easy way to finish a series, stay local, and avoid the online scavenger hunt.

February’s theme of Shoujo, Romance, and Found Family reflects what we’ve been seeing every day in the shop: people connecting over series recommendations, finishing collections together, and turning quick visits into long conversations.
